BioTechnology is a totally different subject from Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology (B.M.L.T). There is a misconception among the people and also some reputed Colleges/Institutions under The University of Burdwan that B.M.L.T is a branch of BioTechnology. So in order to correct the concept we need to know about each and every details of B.M.L.T course.
B.M.L.T - Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology:
Medical Laboratory Technology, also called Clinical laboratory science, is an allied health/paramedical profession, which is concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease through the use of clinical laboratory tests. Doctors rely on laboratory technologies to detect, diagnose and treat diseases.
Course Objective: 
Medical laboratory technologists do routine laboratory testing under stipulated conditions. Technologists may prepare specimens and operate machines that automatically analyze samples.
Subject to Study: 
Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Biochemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Pathology, Cytotechnology & Histotechnology, Microbiology, Computer Application, Communication Skills.
To Start Career as Lab Technician:
Some of the courses offered in Lab Technology are Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology (B.M.L.T), Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (D.M.L.T). B.M.L.T course for Medical Lab Technologists is structured to train students in the clinical laboratory analysis of blood, urine, faeces, cerebrospinal fluid, synovial fluid, ascetic fluid etc to aid the doctors in arriving at a correct diagnosis and treatment of the disease. There are also Diploma/Certificate courses for lab technicians/assistants in general and in different specialities.
